Description
The Cypress Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome former California State Senator John Moorlach as guest speaker at our June Networking Breakfast. Our event will be held Tuesday, June 11th at the Residence Inn by Marriott at 4931 Katella Avenue, Cypress/Los Alamitos starting at 7:30 a.m. John Moorlach will share an updated overview of the financial health of Orange County’s cities and give us a city-by-city comparison based on per capita funding or deficit for O.C.'s 34 cities. He is known for his financial overviews of all the Counties in California and many cities in various regions of California. John Moorlach has earned a national reputation as an accessible expert in municipal finance.
John Moorlach is well-versed in municipal and government finance. Even before being elected to public service, he predicted the 3rd largest municipal bankruptcy in US History, the County of Orange. He ran unsuccessfully for Treasurer-Tax Collector in 1994 but would become a significant personality in Orange County because of predicting the then-largest municipal bankruptcy filing in United States history. He would be appointed to replace the disgraced incumbent, serving in the position from 1995 to 2006. As Treasurer John assisted in the County's exit from Chapter 9 bankruptcy and helped restore the department and its reputation. He then successfully ran for Orange County Supervisor, serving from 2006 to 2015, followed by the State Senate for the 37th District from 2015 to 2020. John currently writes a regular op-ed for The Epoch Times, co-hosts the KLCS PBS show "OC History Hunters," and serves as the Director for the Center for Public Accountability for the California Policy Center.
Each Chamber breakfast attendee will also have an opportunity to stand to introduce themselves and share a little about their business before the program begins.
Reservations are highly recommended to secure your spot for the monthly breakfasts and can be made online. Cost of the breakfast is $25.00. Early Bird Registration is $20.00. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a door prize to promote their product or service. The program will include time for live networking, self-introductions, a breakfast buffet, as well as our guest speaker.
The Chamber networking breakfasts, which are open to the public, are held on the second Tuesday of every month. Space will be limited. To assure your seat, pre-register here on the chamber website.
